Benjamin Kamphaus

Technical Fellow

Ben has worked at the intersection of science and software for two decades, contributing to research or product development in several disciplines, including earth science, oceanography, archaeology, and space systems. In 2020, he switched his focus to bioinformatics and translational data science for cancer research. He specializes in scaling research efforts by systematizing and automating computational workflows and representing scientific data and problems appropriately in distributed systems.

At RCRF, he is focused on maximizing the potential scientific and therapeutic insight gained from every patient-donated sample. Before RCRF, he was Principal Machine Learning Engineer at a TechBio startup, and before that, principal software engineer and architect of the CANDEL System at the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy.

Outside of RCRF, Ben composes music (his work has appeared in TV, film, and video games), and spends as much time outdoors as he can get away with.
