Rare Disease Day 2023
Every year, on February 28th, we commemorate Rare Disease Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about rare diseases and their impact on individuals and families. However, for over 300 million people worldwide, living with a rare disease is an everyday reality. We can all play a role in bringing attention to the life-altering impacts of rare diseases.
Rare Disease Day is about raising awareness, sharing your story, and generating change. See below some ways you can get involved and help raise awareness:
Attend an Event or Tune in Virtually
The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, in collaboration with The Termeer Foundation, will host the “Accelerating Rare Disease Research: Patients as Partners” event on 2/27 from 1:30 - 5:30 pm.*
Rare Disease Day at NIH will be held in person on 2/28 from 9 am - 5 pm.*
*Both events offer a virtual live stream
Check out the National Organization for Rare Disorder's website for a list of upcoming community events.
Learn More / Support
Learn more about the importance of the worldwide initiative on rare diseases by going to the official website of Rare Disease Day.
Look into getting involved with RCRF's initiative, Pattern.org, which empowers cancer patients to take an active role in advancing research for their disease. Using our platform, patients can donate their tumor tissue directly to high-impact research at leading labs, regardless of their location, and at no cost.
Consider making a tax-deductible gift to RCRF to help support rare cancer research and awareness in honor of Rare Disease Day.
