Virginia Spitzer

Virginia Spitzer has recently assumed the role of CEO at the Rare Cancer Research Foundation, where she makes high-level decisions and ensures RCRF has what it needs to succeed.
Her background spans nonprofit leadership, fundraising and foundation management — all of which are critical skills that support RCRF’s mission, strategy and impact.
Before joining RCRF, Spitzer served in leadership roles at several philanthropic and nonprofit organizations. Recently, she was Executive Director of the American Medical Association Foundation (AMAF), and she previously served as Executive Director for the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research.
She brings deep experience in nonprofit governance, development strategy and management of mission-driven organizations. Virginia holds a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University and has earned educational milestones within Oriel College at Oxford University.
